Locker

Bakista

A locker is a type of box-like storage space on a yacht. It can be found both on and below deck. It is used to store yacht equipment, food and anything else that may be needed during the cruise. The locker hatches usually also function as seats or bunks. This allows for effective use of the space available on the vessel.

Lockers located in the cockpit and others accessible from the deck of the yacht are most often used to store yacht equipment, such as mooring lines, fenders, ropes, buckets, brushes, etc. Lockers built into cabins provide space in which you can store clothes, cosmetics and personal belongings of individual crew members. Lockers in the mess are most often used to store food: drinks, cans, jars, dry provisions, as well as vegetables and fruit.

What to remember?

  • good practice is to keep the lockers tidy and always put the same things in the same place,
  • when packing things into the locker it is worth following the rule to put heavy and rarely used things at the bottom of the locker and more frequently used things at the top.
